Manerba@CONTAINER 02 – Genova Design Week | 22–25 May
Inside one of the 20-foot modular containers installed at the Darsena of the Old Port during Genova Design Week (22–25 May), it will be possible to discover a curated selection of Cup seating pieces by Manerba. Carefully chosen by Turin-based designers Francesca Diano and Giuliana Picca Garino, these pieces reinterpret the space into a unique, immersive interior design story with a distinctively feminine perspective.
Curated by Simona Finessi, editor-in-chief of the international magazine *Platform architecture and design*, “CONTAINER 02” is the official and now second edition of an experimental and widespread installation. It reimagines the maritime container – a symbol of travel, transit, and global connection – as an expressive, intimate, and narrative space. The container, stripped of its logistic function, becomes a creative studio. More than 20 female Italian designers will transform these modules into micro-worlds free from constraints – except those defined by the container itself. Set in the open-air backdrop of Genoa’s Old Port, this original exhibition format invited designers to explore the idea of a “mobile container” as a reflection of their own design vision, turning each module into a manifesto of creativity and innovation.
The Cup collection – designed by architect and designer Raffaella Mangiarotti – features softly rounded silhouettes and elegant curves, available in different sizes and heights. With its distinctive flared base and refined stitching details, the series offers versatile compositions. Shapes and colour combinations enable the creation of collaborative islands, ideal for group work, lounge areas, and open-plan environments
